'Crema' oat (ND040341) (specialty release)

DESCRIPTION

Crema was a specialty release in 2020 developed by North Dakota State University. It is a naked oat with very high groat oil concentration and unique flavor properties desirable for human consumption. The variety produces 50% greater groat oil concentration than other popular oat cultivars and 25% greater groat oil than Paul.

The groat protein concentration of Crema is about 12% greater than Paul.  Grain yield was similar to Paul but the test weight is about 3 lb/bu heavier.  Disease resistance is similar to Paul, with resistance to stem rust and susceptibility to crown rust.

To help ensure genetic purity, 'Crema' naked oat has been protected under PVPA Title V (certificate no. 202300017) and must be sold as a class of certified seed.

This variety has been exclusively licensed.
